Well, it's almost time for one of Japan's biggest holidays. Golden Week. It's usually a time of about 5-10 days off work, depending on what days of the week it falls on, and anyone and everyone is traveling.. somewhere.
Last year I went to Niigata. A normally 4 hour trip by car, took 14 hours. There was an 85km backup of traffic leaving Tokyo and I had to pee 1 hour into it. Stuck in traffic with no hope for an exit, face turning blue from holding it in, I swore next year would be different.
This year Golden Week is only 4 days long, 2 of which is on the weekend. Now don't get me wrong, almost all people will take off work to get at least a full week of holiday. Travel will be heavy as usual I'll bet, and there will be some idiot who got all excited and had a few too many drinks before getting on the road, and then being hermedicaly sealed-in on a highway that appears on Golden Week to be as limitless and long as time and space itself. Then they'll be wishing a praying for an exit, a way to break free of the car chain-gang long enough to ...
Meanwhile, I'll be relaxing at home, because I plan to keep my promise from last year.
Hope everyone has a great Golden Week!

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
